Nantucket really is one of those places where the whole experience feels like a little escape. 🌊🚲🤍
Our days started early.
Each morning, Alex and I would head out on our bikes and spend a few hours exploring before making our way back into town.
The bike paths are incredibly well mapped out, and they take you through beautiful stretches of the island—along the coastline, past cedar-shake cottages, out to sandy beaches, lighthouses, and even little food shacks along the way.
One morning, the wind was really blowing, so we ended up sitting on the beach for a while just watching the waves pound the shoreline. There was something about standing there and taking in the sheer vastness of the ocean that made you stop and appreciate where you were.
And then there was the food…
Our first night, we had dinner at The Sister Ship. Reservations are definitely something you’ll want to think about if you’re visiting Nantucket because the popular restaurants fill up quickly.
We shared hummus, oysters and paella, and ate outside while watching the evening unfold around us.
Nantucket has this wonderful rhythm to it. People dress for cocktails and dinner, linger over their meals, wander the cobblestone and brick streets, and seem to have nowhere else they need to be.
We stayed at the Faraway Nantucket, right in the heart of downtown, which made it so easy to walk everywhere. The hotel is made up of several houses, with beautiful gardens, courtyards, little walkways and common spaces. They even gave us a safe place to store our bikes since we brought our own.
And I have to say, one of the things I loved most was how Nantucket has maintained its character. The cedar-shake homes, the natural landscape, the beaches and the way the island seems to blend everything together.
It feels very intentional.
These are just a few glimpses from our five days on Nantucket—and I have so many more to share.
Stay tuned for the next part of our adventure. 🚲🌊
