There’s something about the first cocktails that start to feel a little more like fall. 🍐🍸

There’s something about the first cocktails that start to feel a little more like fall. 🍐🍸

This week’s Thirsty Thursday was inspired by a friend’s pear tree and a basket of pears that weren’t quite ripe yet—but they got me thinking about those warm, cozy fall flavours.

So I made a Pear Martini.

Vodka, St-Germain, pear juice, fresh lemon and just a little simple syrup, shaken over ice and finished with a slice of Bosc pear.

And a little warning from me: go easy on the simple syrup! The pear juice and St-Germain already bring plenty of sweetness. I’m very glad I didn’t add the full amount. 😂

I love cocktails that make you feel like the seasons are changing, and this one definitely feels like a little preview of what’s ahead.

And yes… those tiny glasses meant we ended up with a couple of martinis. Not exactly a bad thing on a Thursday. 😉

Cheers to the beginning of fall cocktail season! 🍐🍸

Being available isn’t the same as being valuable. 💡

Being available isn’t the same as being valuable. 💡

Last night, I turned my cell phone off around 5:30 PM. When I woke up, I had about 12 text messages—all business-related—sitting in my inbox.

Working in real estate, the business truly runs 24/7. While I am endlessly grateful for every single client, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how we protect our personal space while still showing up at 100% for the people we serve.

Here’s my big takeaway: Nobody is going to manage our boundaries for us. Stepping away to be present with family, recharge, or just have uninterrupted time isn’t selfish—it’s actually what allows us to come back and give our absolute best.

I’m curious—how do you manage your personal space and work boundaries? Do you check your phone the second you wake up, or do you give yourself a buffer? Drop your thoughts below! 👇✨

Looking back at this video from a few weeks ago—and the excitement still hasn’t worn off. 🏈💙❤️

I know I’m a bit late to the table with this and so much has already been posted, but I couldn’t skip sharing my first inside look at the new Buffalo Bills stadium during the Red and Blue game. Seeing the sheer scale of the new venue and watching the players walk right past was an absolute highlight as fans.

Living right across the water in Fort Erie, heading over for Buffalo events is such a massive part of our lifestyle. Being just minutes away from moments like this is a local perk I’ll never take for granted.

Getting a sneak peek at the team’s new home has us more than ready for a winning season and many years of excitement to come. Go Bills! 🦬✨

More information should make a decision easier.

More information should make a decision easier.

But sometimes it does the opposite.

Today’s buyers have access to an incredible amount of information:

Market reports.
Interest-rate predictions.
New listings.
Price reductions.
Economic headlines.
Social media opinions.

And when you’re already uncertain, every new piece of information can create another question.

Should I wait?

Are prices going lower?

Is this actually a good price?

What if something better comes up?

At some point, you don’t need more information.

You need to know which information actually matters to your decision.

Your budget.

Your timeline.

Your priorities.

Comparable sales.

The condition and value of the property.

And how the home fits the life you’re trying to create.

That’s where having an experienced real estate professional in your corner matters.

Not to tell you what decision to make — but to help you separate useful information from market noise.

Clarity doesn’t always come from knowing more. Sometimes it comes from knowing what to ignore.

The food is incredible, but it’s really the whole experience around it that I loved.

We ate at some of the island favourites, including The Sister Ship and CRU, and had everything from beautiful patio dinners to drinks at the bar and late-night alfresco meals.

And Nantucket dresses for dinner.

People really make an evening of it. One night, we couldn’t get a reservation until 9:45 p.m.—and I thought, Who is eating dinner at 9:45?

Well… Nantucket is. 😂

The restaurants were packed. The patios were full. People were wandering the streets, shopping at dusk, stopping for drinks and enjoying the evening.

There was such an energy to it.

It reminded me that sometimes dinner doesn’t have to be something you squeeze into your day.

It can be the event.

Get dressed. Find a beautiful patio. Order something delicious. Have another glass of wine. Wander around afterwards.

Stay out a little later than you normally would.

That’s part of what made Nantucket feel so special to me.

Thta’s a wrap!

There’s something so good about a drink made fresh from the garden (or in my case… pots of herbs on the patio! 🌱).

I’ve made variations of this one before, but it is just so on point for this time of year—crisp, refreshing, and full of late-summer flavor. Today for Thirsty Thursday, we’re making a Cucumber Basil Martini! 🍸🥒

My lovely neighbor has been sharing fresh cucumbers from her garden, so I paired them with fresh basil to make the ultimate garden-fresh cocktail.

Here’s the quick play-by-play:

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Gin
  • ¾ oz St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur
  • ¾ oz Simple Syrup
  • ¾ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Fresh Basil leaves & Cucumber slices
  • Pinch of salt & cucumber ribbon (garnish) ✨

Quick Steps:

  1. Muddle: Basil, cucumber, and fresh lemon juice in a shaker.
  2. Pour & Shake: Add simple syrup, gin, St-Germain, and ice. Give it a hard shake!
  3. Strain & Serve: Double-strain into a martini glass, pinch of salt, top with a cucumber ribbon.

It’s sweet, bright, perfectly green, and completely delicious.

Have you tried a basil martini before, or are you sticking to classic mint? Let me know below! 👇

Cheers everybody! Have a great weekend ahead. 🥂

The hardest part about a great vacation isn’t the travel

The hardest part about a great vacation isn’t the travel… it’s keeping that mindset alive once you get back.

For me, stepping away—even for just a few days—is essential.

It creates the mental distance needed to quiet the chatter, gain a fresh perspective, and bring new inspiration back to work and home.

Years ago, I thought a proper reset required grand escapes or long breaks. But over time, I’ve realized the real purpose of time off is much simpler: giving yourself enough breathing room to reset and feel grateful.

The challenge is when real life starts creeping back in—the busy schedules, the back-to-back routines, and the endless to-do lists.

I’ve come to realize that protecting that calm, post-vacation mindset takes intention. You don’t have to lose that peace the moment you step back into your routine.

Sometimes the greatest gift isn’t escaping your routine… it’s bringing a little bit of that vacation quiet back into everyday life.

💬 How do you keep your vacation mindset alive when real life starts calling again?

If I could bring one thing home from Nantucket to Niagara, it would be the window boxes. 🌸🪴

If I could bring one thing home from Nantucket to Niagara, it would be the window boxes. 🌸🪴

Everywhere we went, there were the most beautiful window boxes, gardens and lush little pockets of flowers lining the streets.

I couldn’t stop noticing them.

Every time I walked past one, I found myself thinking, Could I actually keep that alive in Fort Erie? 😂

There was something so charming about the way the flowers were incorporated into the homes and streets of Nantucket. Everything felt lush, intentional and beautifully cared for.

Massachusetts really knows how to do summer gardens.

So now I’m home, looking at my own window boxes and wondering if I can recreate just a little bit of that Nantucket magic here in Niagara.

Although… keeping the Nantucket version alive might be the bigger challenge! 🌸😂

Which would you bring home from your favourite travel destination?
