This week’s cocktail was inspired by two things I absolutely love… Nantucket and getting together with good friends.

Alex and I recently spent a few days exploring Nantucket, and there’s something about that island that makes you want to slow down, linger a little longer, and savour every moment. It felt like the perfect inspiration for this week’s Thirsty Thursday. Watch out for my reel this coming weekend about our trip!

Meet the Raspberry Limoncello Spritz.

Made with fresh raspberry purée, Limoncello, sparkling wine, and a splash of soda, it’s light, refreshing, and as beautiful as it is delicious.

It’s the kind of cocktail I’d serve if I were hosting a girls’ weekend on the patio, by the lake, or even on a dock overlooking the water.

Simple to make.
Beautiful to serve.
Even better to share.

The Niagara real estate market continues to follow a typical summer pattern. While buyer activity remains steady, inventory is still giving purchasers plenty of choice as we move through August.

Across the Niagara Region, there are currently 2,979 active listings, with 245 new listings coming to market over the past seven days. During that same period, 106 homes sold, while 512 homes have sold over the past 30 days. The average time to sell remains 43 days.

In Fort Erie, the market remains active with 494 homes currently for sale. Over the last week, 52 new listings came to market and 17 homes sold. Over the past 30 days, 58 homes changed hands, with an average time on market of 37 days and an average sale price of $676,507.

Overall, the market continues to reflect normal seasonal trends. Buyers are taking advantage of increased inventory and have more time to compare properties before making a decision, while well-priced homes continue to attract interest.

As we move closer to Labour Day, the focus will be on whether buyer activity begins to increase and starts to absorb some of the available inventory, giving us a clearer picture of what to expect for the fall real estate market.

The other day my trainer asked me a simple question that hasn’t left my mind: “Will that person be the calm in the chaos?”

It made me stop and think about my own life.

In real estate, emotions can run high. Deadlines, negotiations, inspections, unexpected challenges… it’s easy to get caught up in the stress. But over the years, I’ve realized my role isn’t to add to the noise—it’s to bring clarity.

The same is true outside of work.

Whether you’re raising a family, leading a team, caring for someone you love, or simply navigating life’s unexpected moments, people remember how you made them feel. Calm has a way of spreading, just like panic does.

I’m not always perfect at it, but it’s something I continue to work on because I truly believe it’s one of the most valuable qualities we can develop.

Bertie Boat Club has a great sense of community 🎣☀️

A few weeks ago, the club hosted its annual Walleye Tournament. Mother Nature had other plans, so the tournament was pushed back a day, but thankfully the weather cooperated and the event went ahead.

One of my favourite traditions is what happens after the tournament.

Many of the anglers generously donate their catch back to the club, and an incredible group of volunteers transforms it into one of the best fish fries of the summer.

Whether you like your walleye deep fried or blackened, it’s always delicious. Add homemade coleslaw, great conversation, and a beautiful summer evening by the lake, and you’ve got everything that makes this club so special.

A huge thank you to everyone who organized the tournament, volunteered their time, cooked for the crowd, and helped make another great community event possible.

These are the traditions that keep people coming back year after year.

Some of the best summer days are the ones you never planned. ☀️🍷

A few weeks back, a friend was collecting gift certificates from local businesses for an event at our boat club. Since it was a little too windy to head out on Lake Erie, we thought we’d tag along.

One stop turned into an afternoon we didn’t expect.

We sampled warm focaccia bread with specialty olive oils and balsamic vinegars, tasted a few local wines and craft beers, and enjoyed some delicious dips while catching up with friends.

Before we knew it, the afternoon had turned into evening, and we found ourselves sitting on the patio overlooking the boats and the lake, watching the sunset and dreaming a little about what the rest of summer has in store.

It’s funny how often the unplanned days become the ones you remember most.

Sometimes all it takes is saying “yes” to an invitation, supporting a local business, and seeing where the day takes you.

Those are the moments that fill your cup.

The latest market statistics continue to show that buyers have plenty of choice across the Niagara Region, while well-priced homes are still finding buyers. Inventory remains elevated compared to recent years, giving purchasers more negotiating power and creating longer marketing times for many listings. This aligns with broader regional trends showing Niagara remains a buyer’s market.

Fort Erie Market Snapshot

Over the past 30 days, Fort Erie recorded:

• 511 active listings
• 51 new listings in the past 7 days
• 14 sales in the past week
• 56 sales over the past 30 days
• 84 average days on market
• Average sale price: $575,993

The most notable statistic continues to be the average days on market. At 84 days, sellers should be prepared for a longer selling process than we’ve experienced in previous years. Pricing accurately from day one and presenting your home well remain critical to attracting today’s buyers.

Niagara Region Overview

Across the Niagara Region over the past 30 days:

• 3,107 active listings
• 296 new listings this week
• 118 sales this week
• 507 sales over the past 30 days
• 43 average days on market
• Average sale price: $665,627

While inventory remains high across the region, homes that are priced competitively and show well continue to sell. Buyers have more options and are taking additional time to compare properties before making offers, resulting in a more balanced and thoughtful marketplace.

As we move through the remainder of the summer, it will be interesting to watch whether inventory begins to tighten heading into the fall market or whether buyers continue to benefit from the current level of selection.

On this day, I broke one of my own rules… and I’m so glad I did.

For years, I’ve believed you work first… and play later.

So that’s exactly what I’ve done.

Until today.

I stepped away from my workday for just two hours to golf.

The emails were still there.

The phone calls were still waiting.

But after spending a little time outside, something shifted.

I came back with a clearer mind, more energy, and honestly… probably accomplished more than I would have if I’d stayed glued to my desk.

It made me wonder why it took me so many years to give myself permission to pause.

Maybe productivity isn’t always about doing more.

Maybe sometimes it’s about creating space to think, breathe, and appreciate the season you’re in.

Summer is short.

The work will still be there.
