Have you ever shared a place you love… and then watched other people fall in love with it too? 🍽️

Tonight, we just finished dinner at @citythairestaurantforterie
a place Alex and I still come back to again and again.

It was actually one of the very first restaurant videos
I ever shared on YouTube years ago.
They were so gracious then,
and we’ve been regulars ever since.

What always makes me smile is when people say,
“I tried City Thai because of your video.”
One time, I was in Social Graces
and someone stopped me and said,
“You look familiar — I saw your City Thai video.
It’s my favourite restaurant now.”

That never gets old.

We wrapped up dinner tonight
thinking about how special it is
to support local places that quietly become part of your routine.

Yesterday I had a showing with someone in their 70s.

Do you ever start with one simple recipe and somehow end up baking half the afternoon away? 🍞✨

Last week, I was supposed to make a single banana bread
for a Christmas party.
That was the plan.

But somewhere between mixing bowls and oven timers,
it turned into a full baking frenzy.

Three banana loaves,
two lemon loaves,
two chocolate loaves,
and a pan of Rice Krispies squares.
Not planned… but so much fun.

Oh and i forgot to mention the 2 pistachio loafs i did…

At one point, I was standing there
waiting for oven space

and glaze cooling beside me —
and I had to laugh.

These are the afternoons I love most:

I’ve been thinking about pace.

It’s December 10th… the snow is falling… and I’ve been thinking about pace.

Alex and I were looking at our calendar this week —
holiday plans, family time, a few gatherings.

He loves having things to look forward to.
I tend to lean toward quiet days in between.

And the other morning, walking with Blue in the fresh snow,
I was reminded how much I need these slower moments.

There have been years where the calendar was full —
and by Christmas, I felt more depleted than present.

Now, I try to notice when I need stillness…
to create space,
not just for rest,
but for reflection.

There’s no right way to do this season.
Some find energy in celebration.
Some find peace in quiet.

Both are good.
Both are enough.
