Sometimes growth isn’t about pushing harder.
It’s about stepping back — on purpose.

I was in a stretch and strengthen class this morning,
and the instructor used a phrase that stopped me:
“Successful retraction.”

If we were wobbling in a pose,
losing balance,
forcing it…
she encouraged us to step back
to the last stable position.

Not quitting.
Repositioning.

And as I stood there,
I thought about business.

There are seasons when everything is on fire —
busy, fast, full tilt.
And that’s exciting.

But sometimes,
if I don’t intentionally retract,
I lose balance.

In real estate coaching, we’re taught to lean into discomfort.
Growth lives there.
And that’s true.

But I’ve learned something too —
you can’t stay in the unstable position forever.
Sometimes you step back,
regain footing,
and then move forward stronger.

It’s not failure.
It’s strategy.

Last Friday I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon at Cherry Hill Club celebrating International Women’s Day with an incredible group of women in business.

Conversations like these always remind me how much strength, talent, and leadership exists quietly in our communities.

Women showing up.
Building businesses.
Supporting their families.
Supporting each other.

It was inspiring to sit at the table with so many thoughtful, driven women who are making a difference in their own ways.

The afternoon left me thinking… we don’t always take enough time to recognize the people around us doing meaningful work.

So I’m going to start something simple.

Each week I’d like to shine a small spotlight on a woman in business in our community — just to acknowledge the work she’s doing.

Nothing fancy.
Just appreciation.

Belgium — the second leg of our trip.

Alex says it might have been his favourite of the three places we visited.
The food was excellent.

Beautiful old buildings everywhere.
But what stood out most were the waterways.

Easy ferry rides, old castles along the shoreline,
and bridges that felt like they belonged in another time.

Thirsty Thursday… and we are springing forward. 

Longer days.
Tulips starting to appear.
And finally… cocktails that feel like spring.

This one is fresh, light, and honestly so refreshing.

Cucumber.
Gin.
Lime.
Honey simple syrup.

A little tart.
A little sweet.
And the cucumber makes it incredibly crisp.

One of those drinks that tastes like warm weather is coming.

Recipe:

• 2 oz gin
• ¾ oz lime juice
• ½ oz honey simple syrup
• ½ oz citrus liqueur (I used Cointreau)
• Fresh cucumber slices

Shake with ice and garnish with cucumber or lime.

Trust me… this one is good.

Homemade Manicotti Crepes 🍝

Have you ever tried something new in the kitchen knowing it might take a few tries?

After making homemade ricotta,
I decided to take it one step further —
manicotti made with crepes.

This was a first.
A little trial and error.
A few thick ones.
A few that leaned more pancake than crepe.

I adjusted as I went —
a splash more milk,
lower heat,
faster swirl, quicker flip.

And then… it clicked.
Light, thin, and finally just right.

I love these moments in the kitchen —
learning as you go,
figuring it out in real time,
and trusting that even the imperfect ones
are still going to be delicious.

Next step: filling them with that homemade ricotta
and turning them into something special.
